Building an Artist's Life explores the multifaceted lives of practicing artists, writers, designers, and creative entrepreneurs.

Part of the three-day CCA Alumni Weekend, this annual event is open to all CCA students and alumni. It takes place on the Oakland campus in Nahl Hall as well as the patio of the Martinez building.

Career Development is copresenting the event with Chronicle Books, whose Creative Inc series breaks down the how-tos of transitioning from an aspiring to established creative professional.  

Come get inspired to translate your creativity into a fulfilling, multidimensional career as we explore the following topics

  • the art of reinventing yourself 
  • getting paid and getting the word out
  • moving from designer to entrepreneur 
  • publishing art & writing
