The deans of CCA’s four academic divisions selected students whose submissions to the 2023 Showcase deserve special recognition. Every student work chosen for a Deans’ Spotlight (displayed below) demonstrates excellence in theory and practice.
Creative Citizens in Action
The Creative Citizens in Action (CCA@CCA) initiative provides important resources to the CCA community to power dialogue and making related to creative activism. The connected programming explores art, democratic engagement, and current affairs through public events, exhibitions, grant opportunities, voting resources, and connections to the classroom.
CCA@CCA is overseen by the Exhibitions and Public Programming department in partnership with Student Affairs, as well as libraries, academic divisions, communications, and faculty.

Rewind Review Respond
Rewind Review Respond (RRR) is an online forum where CCA students write about recent events and the ideas that affect their practice, communities, and fields of study. Through writing, videos, and interviews, RRR is an opportunity to debrief on a lecture, panel, screening, or roundtable and to dive deeper into ideas discussed.
RRR is organized by the Exhibitions and Public Programming department and led by a team of student editors, writers, and designers.

Students from all divisions and programs, who are currently enrolled in thesis courses, are invited to create their galleries for the 2024 Showcase!
The annual Showcase is a virtual presentation of capstone work by bachelor’s and master’s degree students across CCA’s Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, and Humanities & Sciences divisions. It is a space for families and potential employers to connect with students, explore their final projects, and discover their accomplishments.

Rewind Review Respond has a new home on cca.edu! Navigate to our linktree to check out the first articles of Volume 8, including Samantha Hiura's reflections on the 37th Annual Barclay Simpson Master of Fine Arts Award Exhibition.
"Each year for over three decades, the Barclay Simpson Award has been granted to a selection of graduating CCA MFA students, and includes a long list of illustrious awardees … This year proves no exception to the historically high quality of work."
The 2024 Barclay Simpson exhibition was on view at the CCA Campus gallery from January 24 through February 9 and included work by Lynse Cooper, Kelley Finley, Dottie Lo Bue, and Yue Xiang.
Sam Hiura (@samanthahiura) (MA Curatorial Practice / MA Visual and Critical Studies 2025) is a second-year graduate student in CCA's dual degree program for CURP and VCS. Her academic and professional focuses are centered on contemporary art as resistance, with a particular interest in the intersections of queer and BIPOC experiences.

Today is the last day to see The Spring 2024 Fine Arts Senior Exhibition! Week 5 (of 5) features artwork by Cam Barnes, Ajaya (Maggie) Bhatnagar, Joy Kong (Kyung Mee Kong), Myrranda Mora, 혜빈 'Kelsey' Seo, Tamara Jazmín Sobek, and Finn Weldon. The Campus Gallery is open 11am–4pm.
