Student Organizations & Groups
The Office of Student Life encourages all students to join or create new student organizations, groups, or clubs. Your participation provides valuable experience that can have a positive effect on your college years as well as your future professional and personal life.
Student groups also contribute to the CCA community at large by involving others to work collaboratively toward a shared goal. More than a dozen student organizations and groups already exist. If you don't see one that matches your interest, consider establishing an entirely new organization or group.

Create a New Student Organization
Feel like something’s missing in the student community? Have an idea for a great new club or organization? Obtaining a pilot charter is easy, and the Student Life staff is ready to walk you through the process. Please also download a copy of CCA's Student Organization Handbook for a comprehensive list of guidelines and procedures to ensure your student organization is as effective as possible.

How to Get Started
- Download the pilot charter application form
- Gather five members. (A new student club/organization must have five members minimum to obtain a pilot charter.)
- Schedule a meeting time and location. Classrooms and other meeting spaces may be reserved through the Academic Affairs Office.
- Choose an advisor. Any faculty or staff member can be an advisor to a club/organization. (Note: This person must be able to commit to your scheduled meeting times.
- Propose three events. A first-time club/organization is required to produce at least one collegewide event and any two additional events. Based on the events proposed, the Student Activities staff will establish the funding grant for your club/organization (maximum $150 annual funding).
New! Gain additional funding by signing up for college service! Your club/organization can earn an additional $50 (up to $150) of college service grant funding each time members of your organization work as student helpers at one of six collegewide campus events. Renewing a Charter
Set up a meeting with a Student Activities staff member to review your renewal application. To make an appointment email Student Development Coordinator Grace Lee at glee@cca.edu.
Your application will be reviewed and either approved or returned for additional changes. Once notified of approval, your club/organization is an official CCA-chartered student group. For returning student clubs/organizations, renewing your charter is an opportunity to show what the group has accomplished during the previous academic year as well as gain increased support in terms of resources and funding.

Chronicle your successes. Based on an evaluation of your club/organization‘s previous year’s activities, your renewed charter grant will be determined. A first-year pilot charter grant is set at a $150 limit per year for all new organizations, with a potential $50 annual increase for every subsequent year of charter renewal (up to $150 additional / $300 total) based on the following criteria:
- community involvement
- outreach
- membership growth
- setting and attaining club/organization goals
- attendance

Future Action Reclamation Mob (FARM)
FARM is an alternative form of nonviolent protest, reclaiming unused public space to build community. With several variations of FARM currently in the works, the Hooper chapter of FARM works to revitalize the city-owned land adjacent to CCA’s San Francisco campus.
