CCA alum Hank Willis Thomas makes TIME100 Art 2026 list
Congratulations to Hank Willis Thomas (MFA Photography and MA Visual Criticism 2003), who has been named to TIME magazine’s 2026 TIME100 Art list, recognizing influential figures shaping the world of art.
A conceptual artist whose work explores history, popular culture, and mass media, Thomas is known for his public artworks and commitment to civic engagement. His projects include All Power to All People, a monumental sculpture in Philadelphia celebrating Black resilience, and a recently unveiled sculpture memorializing the enslaved people who built Davidson College in North Carolina. He is also a co-founder of For Freedoms, an artist-led collective that encourages voting and community participation through public art.
