California College of the Arts names Margo Landy as vice president of Enrollment Management

Landy joins CCA with extensive experience in enrollment strategy, equity, and student success

San Francisco, CA—August 4, 2025—California College of the Arts (CCA) today announced the appointment of Margo Landy, Ph.D., as Vice President of Enrollment Management. In this role, Landy will lead strategic enrollment initiatives to support CCA’s mission of fostering transformative arts and design education while advancing student success and institutional growth. She will begin the position on a part-time basis later this month before starting full time on September 2.

“We are thrilled to welcome Margo to CCA,” said David C. Howse, President of California College of the Arts. “Her clear understanding of the enrollment pipeline, from recruitment to yield, positions her exceptionally well to support our work in this critical area. Throughout our search process, Margo also demonstrated both calm confidence and an appreciation for working collaboratively with others—qualities that are essential for our team at CCA. Her data-driven approach and commitment to equity align well with our institutional values and we are delighted to welcome her to the team.”

Landy brings extensive experience in enrollment management from diverse institutional settings, including her current role as Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and University Registrar at San Francisco State University. In this position, she has successfully led enrollment initiatives that improve the student experience while advancing equity and accessibility for the campus’s diverse student body. Her work has resulted in significant improvements to retention rates, yield management, and administrative efficiency—driven in part by innovative partnerships and technology integration for which she was responsible.

Indeed, Landy has demonstrated expertise in using analytics and new technologies to support recruitment and retention processes throughout her career. At SF State, she has successfully implemented behavior-based marketing strategies, secured external funding for student retention initiatives, and led the development of digital degree planning tools. Her collaborative approach has enabled cross-campus partnerships that enhance student services and reduce administrative barriers, particularly for underserved populations. In her prior role, as University Registrar at University of the Pacific from 2017-2019, she led a modernization process for the multi-campus system that integrated registration services across all campus, implemented a new degree auditing program, and deployed other tools such as an automatic wait-list system for registration.

“I am inspired by CCA's role in delivering transformative arts education and fostering a dynamic learning environment in San Francisco,” said Landy. “The opportunity to apply my experience to support CCA’s mission is incredibly exciting, especially at a time when there is so much change and transition in higher education. I look forward to working collaboratively with the talented team at CCA to think creatively about ways to grow and sustain enrollment and support the institution’s long-term goals, ensuring that budding artists and designers have access to this exceptional educational experience for years to come.”

Landy has authored numerous publications and presented at national conferences, including on topics such as FERPA compliance, retention planning, and proactive graduation processes for College and University journal. She has regularly presented at American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) conferences on topics ranging from ethical considerations in policy exceptions to women’s leadership in higher education. She currently serves on AACRAO’s Technical Advisory Council and Enrollment Management and Retention Committee, and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Education Research Foundation (IERF). Landy holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a B.A. in Philosophy from UC Berkeley, where she graduated with high distinction and Phi Beta Kappa honors.
