San Francisco, CA—September 9, 2026—The CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts is pleased to announce its fall programming with exhibitions, an artist residency, talks, screenings, and gatherings that invite visitors to engage with contemporary artists and ideas.

Artists-in-Residence

CFGNY
September to November 2026

The Wattis welcomes CFGNY as its fall Artists-in-Residence. Founded in 2016, CFGNY is an artist collective whose research-based practice spans image making, installation, sculpture, garment making, and performance to expand ideas around racialization and subjectivity.

The collective continually returns to the term “vaguely Asian,” an understanding of racial identity as a specific cultural experience that includes being perceived as other. CFGNY is currently composed of Daniel Chew, Ten Izu, and Tin Nguyen.

Exhibitions

Caguiat Delacruz: The Tramp
Through November 21, 2026

The Tramp is the first institutional exhibition on the West Coast by Caguiat Delacruz, the collaborative practice of Justin Caguiat and Rafael Delacruz. Bringing together a newly commissioned film, installation, painting, prints, and ephemera, the exhibition transforms the Wattis galleries into an immersive environment that offers a view into the artists’ collaborative process.

Alexandre Estrela: RedSkyFalls
Through November 21, 2026

RedSkyFalls is a multi-part installation by Lisbon-based artist Alexandre Estrela, created for the Portugal Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia. Reactive to seismic activity around the world, the project makes the earth’s constant tectonic movements visually and aurally perceptible.

About CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts

Founded in 1998, the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts at California College of the Arts (CCA) is a nonprofit exhibition venue and research institute focused on contemporary art and ideas. The Wattis commissions and showcases new work by emerging and established artists from around the world. Additionally, an entire year is dedicated to exploring the work of a single artist or idea, informing exhibitions, public programs, and publications. The Wattis is free and open to all.
