Six CCA students win 2026 Murphy and Cadogan Awards

Congratulations to six MFA Fine Arts students who have been named recipients of the 2026 Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards.

Mingqi Ma received the Jack K. and Gertrude Murphy Competitive Award, a $40,000 scholarship presented annually to one exceptional MFA student. Alex Ehmer, eva birhanu, Kamyar Mohsenin, Lian Yung, and Khadijah Morley received Edwin Anthony and Adalaine Boudreaux Cadogan Scholarships, which provide $6,500 in support to outstanding Bay Area graduate artists.

Presented by the San Francisco Foundation in partnership with SOMArts Cultural Center, the awards recognize emerging artists for their creativity, technical accomplishment, and artistic promise. The recipients’ work will be featured in the 2026 Murphy & Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition at SOMArts, on view October 17 to November 15, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on Friday, October 16, from 7 to 9 pm.
